There is no one monitor that works fine for everyone. Further, cost can vary wildly depending on size and quality. Also, are you looking for a monitor for a desktop computer or buying the screen to use with a laptop? Recently, I came across a Viewsonic monitor that is surprisingly good for its pricing. The company has focused more on quality rather than bezels and stand.
Viewsonic is a good choice when it comes to monitors and projectors as the company is delivering tech that cuts across the price spectrum without making too many compromises on the tech front. For me Viewsonic VX2405-P-MHD has turned out to be more than a gaming monitor. I have used it as a second screen and also as primary screen, besides for gaming as well as tools like Adobe Premiere Pro.
There is very little to talk in way of design because most of it is plastic and it’s not very different from the offerings of rival brands. It’s a 24-inch full display with 144Hz refresh rate. The bezels are somewhat slim though the same cannot be said about the chin. There is a simple stand in the box that clicks into place and a screwdriver is not required. The monitor supports VESA mounting, which is helpful if you want the display to be rock steady. All the controls are at the back of the monitor and there are enough options to choose from when it comes to picture quality. For most tasks, the default setting works well.

Where the monitor does well is when the user is moving from 60Hz to 144Hz refresh rate. Given the pool of users playing competitive gaming titles, a higher refresh rate helps. Plus, there is support for AMD FreeSync that tackles choppy gameplay and broken frames. The AMD FreeSync Premium tier offers mandatory low framerate compensation (LFC) and at least 120Hz refresh rate at FHD resolution. When the framerate of a game is running below the minimum supported refresh rate of a display, LFC ensures frames are displayed multiple times so that you maintain a smooth gameplay. The response time is also low at 1ms.
Though it’s being promoted as a gaming monitor, I did some simple video editing on Premiere Pro and was impressed by the colour accuracy offered while keeping the pricing in mind. When used as a secondary monitor, you can easily watch YouTube videos and a bit of streaming without straining the eye. There is no backlight bleeding or dark spots.
There are even integrated speakers. It’s not the loudest or the clearest of speakers but it’s enough to fill a small room. In terms of port selection, you get a DisplayPort and HDMI inputs.
The best part about the monitor is the viewing comfort it offers in way of colour temperature. The monitor has pre-calibrated FPS, RTS and MOBA game settings with in-game testing and adjustments. Anyone looking for a simple gaming monitor or even a secondary display, Viewsonic VX2405-P-MHD (Rs 24,930 MRP but available on Amazon.in for Rs 14,699) is a safe bet.
