With TikTok caught in the landslide of words pouring out of President Donald Trump’s mouth, other social media companies are finding ways to win over (and back!) users. As more and more people get hooked to Instagram Reels, a feature heavily influenced by TikTok, Snapchat is also boarding the bus.

A few days back Snap announced that the app will work with music publishers to add music to Snaps. This means, users would be able to add music to what they capture and those viewing the post can swipe up to view information about the song and listen to it on a music streaming platform. Australia and New Zealand are the first places to experience the feature and hopefully it would be released in more markets.

Meanwhile, there is something cool you can enjoy on Snapchat if you are not logging in often — Cameos Selfie. The quirky feature allows users to add their faces to videos and GIFs. Though launched a few months ago, the feature is picking up steam. Using the option, your face can feature on that of a melting ice cream stick or a dancing roast chicken. There are 150 Cameos or short looping videos to choose from.

Not just your selfies, there is an option that makes Cameos interactive. You can add a friend and create a two-person version. We are not done! Not only these videos can be shared with others on Snapchat, you can even save it on the device’s local storage and share it with other friends and social media platforms as well. The technology behind Cameos is a complex one but essentially it uses deepfake techniques. Earlier this year, Snap snapped up image and video-editing start-up AI Factory and its technology is reportedly used in the new feature.

To make a Snapchat Cameos, start a chat and tap on the emoticon icon near the keyboard. Once you choose Cameos, the camera interface gets launched to take a selfie. Select a short looping video and then share it with friends.

There are enough privacy options in place about who can see the Cameos. Visit settings and click on ‘Use My Cameos Selfie’ where you can choose between Everyone, Friends, or just the owner. There is also the option to delete the Cameos selfie you have taken by visiting Settings.
