Microsoft has said it will release its next major Windows update with “over 150 new features” on September 26 and it will include AI power.

Called 23H2, it comes with the new AI-powered Windows Copilot feature. The tool is at the moment a part of the Edge browser, but now it’ll be natively implemented in Windows, meaning that Copilot will be available to almost every aspect of the operating system, from Powerpoint to Teams.

What can you do with Copilot? Write text messages using calendar data, generate Spotify playlists and a lot more. Being generative AI, Copilot will also look for items based solely on a photo, remove photo backgrounds and access the Bing Image Creator. Or write math equations in the Copilot using a stylus (on supported devices) and get an answer for that equation. You can also take a picture of a math graph and get solutions using Copilot.

Other AI features include background removal in Paint, which automatically detects the subject of a photo and removes background elements so you can keep only what matters. The Snipping Tool will be able to recognise text in screenshots so you can easily copy text from it. Windows 11 version 23H2 also includes RGB lighting control and a new look for File Explorer. We are also looking forward to the new volume mixer. With this update, the volume mixer returns to the Taskbar in the Quick Settings panel, allowing you to change the volume for different apps and playback devices more easily.
By the way, Microsoft is also bringing Copilot to Microsoft 365, and that’s coming on November 1 for enterprise customers.

If you are wondering how heavy the update would be, it won’t take long to install because it will be delivered via an enablement package.
