Adding features to a fine-tuned product is never easy but Amazon has managed to think out of the box with its next generation of Kindle Paperwhite, which has two new models — the all-new Kindle Paperwhite and the first Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition.
The two new features may not sound earth-shattering but it certainly helps anybody looking for an upgrade. Besides offering one the best battery life of up to 10 weeks on e-book readers, you now get fast USB-C charging, which takes only 2.5 hours to juice up when using a 10W adapter or larger. Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition is the first Kindle to offer wireless charging and can be used with any compatible Qi wireless charger (needs to be bought separately).
The new Kindle Paperwhite offers IPX8 rating, designed to withstand accidental drops in the pool or bathtub. Plus, the 8GB standard storage on Kindle Paperwhite, and 32 GB of storage on the Signature Edition means there’s room for thousands of titles, comics, and magazines.
Equally exciting is the 300ppi display which is glare-free, delivers sharper text and resembles real paper for easy reading. The Paperwhite Signature Edition comes with an auto-adjusting front light that automatically adjusts the brightness of the display based on the lighting around you so you can comfortably read in all conditions.
The other change is the redesigned Kindle interface, which allows a more intuitive experience — there is an easy way to switch between the home screen, your library, or your current book, while a new library experience includes new filters and sort menus, a new collections view, and an interactive scroll bar.
All this makes for a fantastic festive season buy with the new Kindle Paperwhite coming in at Rs 13,999 and available in 8 GB (black) while the Signature Edition is priced at Rs 17,999, available in 32 GB (in black). Pre-orders are on while shipping begins October 27 (November 4 for Paperwhite Signature Edition).
