Spotify is listening to customer demands and has got most of their recent decisions spot on. The streaming service has announced that premium subscribers can now download tracks to laptops using the desktop app. This means, songs can be heard even without connectivity, which is very helpful when on the move. There’s more.
The company’s desktop and web player experience has a new feel. After months of testing and research, the company has come up with a clean design and more controls.
You can access content easily. ‘Search’ can now be found on the left side of the navigation page. Second, listeners’ profile pages now include top artistes and tracks. Finally, listeners can now start a radio session for any song or artiste radio by simply clicking the ‘...’-menu.
It has also become easier to create playlists. There are more ways for listeners to easily tailor their playlists, including the ability to write descriptions, upload images, drag and drop tracks into existing playlists, and even use a new embedded search bar to find and add new songs and podcast episodes to new and existing playlists.
Finally, you can sing along to your favourite songs with synced lyrics. For the first time, web player users in India can now access synced lyrics. The feature will also appear on the desktop app in a new, refreshing style.
In other Spotify-related news, the streaming service has been working on a new family of personalised playlists called Spotify Mixes, which has been inspired by Daily Mix. Free and premium users globally will now have access to three new mix categories with clearer names that are easier to remember and evolve with you — artiste mix, genre mix and decade mix. These mixes, built with the user in mind, start with the songs you like and update with songs the service thinks the user will love.
