Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and a surprise
Insomniac, the developer of Spider-Man, is not only going to deliver the sequel in 2023, featuring Venom, the studio is also working on a Wolverine game. Tony Todd (of Candyman fame) will voice the symbiote-fueled Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 while Yuri Lowenthal and Nadji Jeter will reprise their roles as Peter and Miles respectively.
When Ryan Schneider, head of franchise strategy and studio relations at Insomniac Games, and his team were working on Marvel’s Spider-Man, there were moments when they brainstormed about the future beyond the web-slinger. “And even in those early discussions, Wolverine continually came up as the character we’d be really stoked to work on together,” he said.
Knights of the Old Republic remake
Developed by Aspyr, it will be a timed PlayStation 5 console exclusive and will also be coming to PC but we don’t have a release window yet. Set over 4,000 years before the events of the original trilogy, the team at Aspyr and Sony Interactive Entertainment have joined forces with Lucasfilm Games. “Nearly 20 years after it first debuted, the original KOTOR is still one of the most beloved games of all time. And even as Star Wars travels to new horizons, we know the community is as eager as ever to return to this iconic era of storytelling and action,” said Ryan Treadwell, lead producer at Aspyr Media.
God of War: Ragnarok
God of War 2018 ended on an astonishing note that Atreus’ mother, Faye, originally wanted to name him Loki, making Kratos’s often hotheaded boy the Norse God of Mischief. The sequel will be directed by Eric Williams, who’s worked on the series since 2004. Kratos and Atreus are returning as the leads and must journey to each of the Nine Realms in search of answers as they prepare for the prophesied battle that will end the world.
Forspoken
Square Enix has revealed that PS5 exclusive Forspoken will arrive in Spring 2022. The game follows Frey Holland through the expansive world of Athia and she will come into possession of a magical bracelet. Frey is being performed by Ella Balinska while Jonathan Cake plays her companion “Cuff”, the sentient bracelet of uncertain origin. Going by the trailer, the game may have the feel of a playable movie.
Ghostwire: Tokyo
Set to arrive from Tango Gameworks on PS5 and PC, this is a supernatural, first-person game that looks creepy. Players awaken in an abandoned street crossing as Tokyo’s population disappears, without a clue as to where they’ve gone or why. There’s no time to question why you’ve been spared as otherworldly Visitors attack the city, seemingly led by a masked man known as Hannya and his acolytes. The player needs to master Ethereal Weaving — a powerful art that attunes the elements with spiritual energy — alongside other equipment and ghost-hunting skills to face such a threat.
Gran Turismo 7
This is PlayStation’s premier racing series and the trailer for the March 2022 release looks slick. Gran Turismo 7 recreates the look and feel of classic motors and supercars alike in unparalleled detail. Each car handles differently and feels unique as you navigate over 90 track routes in dynamic weather conditions, including classic courses from GT history.
Uncharted: Legacy Of Thieves Collection
Uncharted: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy will be coming to PS5 and PC early next year via the Legacy of Thieves Collection. The former features Nathan Drake as he hunts for Captain Avery’s long-lost treasure, setting off for one final far-flung adventure across the jungles of Madagascar to long lost pirate colony of Libertalia. And The Lost Legacy chronicles Chloe Frazer’s breakout exploits as she moves from frenemy to hero.
