Samsung is returning with the third edition of ‘Solve for Tomorrow’, an annual initiative that celebrates tech-driven ideas of the Indian youth. The electronics giant is hosting the event in strategic collaboration with the Foundation for Innovation & Technology Transfer (FITT), IIT Delhi, the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and the United Nations in India.
In the past we have seen Indian youth come forward with solutions that tackle menstrual health, monitor Alzheimer’s patients and alleviate stress.
This year, the programme introduces two distinct tracks — School Track and Youth Track, each dedicated to championing a specific theme and targeted towards different age groups. Both the tracks will run simultaneously, ensuring equal opportunity and a level playing field for all students.
The School Track is meant for students in the 14-17 age bracket and the focus is on the theme of “community and inclusion”. It’s about understanding the importance of uplifting underprivileged groups, improving accessibility to health and social inclusion for all through social innovations.
The Youth Track is for those in the 18-22 age group while the focus is on the theme of “environment and sustainability”. It wants to see innovative ideas for reducing carbon footprints, protecting the environment and promoting sustainability.
JB Park, president and CEO, Samsung Southwest Asia, said: “Our mission revolves around fostering the next generation of innovators and catalysts for social change. Solve for Tomorrow is truly shaping up as a platform for India’s youth to come up with meaningful innovations that can improve the lives of people.”
The Winning Team in the School Track category will be declared ‘Community Champion’ of Solve for Tomorrow 2024 and will receive a seed grant of Rs 25 lakh for prototype advancement. The Winning Team in the Youth Track will be declared ‘Environment Champion’ of Solve for Tomorrow 2024 and will receive a grant of Rs 50 lakh for incubation at IIT-Delhi.
