It’s just another day in the iPhone universe as another music video shot on the company’s flagship device has appeared. Olivia Rodrigo is out to get revenge because “he had an ego and a temper and a wandering eye”. But hang on, the video for Get Him Back has been shot on the iPhone 15 Pro.
Shot by director Jack Begert, who has worked with artistes like Kendrick Lamar and Paul McCartney, the video has a teen movie vibe.
The high point of the video is when several clips of Rodrigo are merged together to make it look like there are several of her because the singer wants to multiply before she “kiss(es) his face with an uppercut”.
The camera work is impressive. The guy she sings about is out of focus which probably highlights a new feature that lets you toggle the focus in portrait mode. And there is no doubt that that video shows off the iPhone 15 Pro’s three-lens setup. The Pro can shoot in 77mm, while the Pro Max has a 5x telephoto camera that can shoot up to a 120mm focal length. There are also the usual regular and wide-angle lenses.
What’s most interesting is that the video takes advantage of new camera features such as Pro Res 4K Log and support for external USB-C drives when recording videos.
With the iPhone 15 Pro Max, you can use the iPhone with Capture One to transfer highest-res data to a Mac or an external storage drive.
The new camera also has an updated Smart HDR system that captures subjects and backgrounds with better true-to-life renderings of skin tones and it has been made possible by Apple's new A17 Pro chip.
