London-based tech brand Nothing is working on a budget line called CMF by Nothing (Colour, Material, and Finish). On the one hand are design-focussed products like Nothing Phone (2) and Nothing Ear (2), on the other will be the affordable sub-brand. Carl Pei, who leads the company, appears to be taking the same strategy OnePlus has had for some years. There are OnePlus phones and earbuds and then there are products from its Nord series. One of the last projects involving Pei as the co-founder of OnePlus was the Nord sub-brand. He left soon after planning it to form Nothing.

Though pricing has been a crucial aspect of Nothing devices, the company hasn’t made any big compromises on user experience. Pei said — during his company’s latest community update — “CMF by Nothing” brand aims to offer “a new range of products that make better design more accessible”.

Pei has even mentioned the first two products that will come from CMF — a pair of earbuds and a smartwatch and both will arrive later this year. The founder has said that CMF by Nothing will feature “clean design” that’s “accessible” and there will be “trusted quality”. l
