A fitness app is making all the right noises… musically. Peloton, the fitness company, has unveiled its second music partnership — remixes of three Elvis Presley hits from DJ Dillon Francis, Outkast’s Big Boi and electro-funk group Chromeo. The tracks will be used exclusively across a variety of its classes.

The tracks include the songs Catchin’ On Fast, Do the Vega and Clean Up Your Own Backyard. The app’s users will hear the songs in an “ultimate remix” collection and be used in yoga, strength, core and outdoor running classes.

A spokesperson for the company — according to The Verge — has said that the idea behind starting with Elvis was to find a “new expression of the classic catalog in a contemporary way”. The rights to the songs belong to Sony, which might choose to release the tracks more widely after the month-long exclusivity window expires.

Besides the Elvis tracks, recently Beyonce signed a multi-year deal with Peloton to create a series of themed workout classes. Such deals are important for the company as the platform’s popularity has picked up during the pandemic.

But one wonders how long people would continue to workout from home as Covid vaccines are being rolled out in the US. Peloton has extended its free trial period from a month to two months.

Elvis Presley remixes have always done well. For example, a 2002 remix of his song A Little Less Conversation reached the top 10 in music charts around the world.
