Perhaps the only thing smoother than Nespresso coffee is the man who has advertised it for a very long time — George Clooney. Nobody knows what took Nestle India this long but finally the much-awaited Nespresso will be launched in India by the end of 2024. Both Nespresso coffees and machines will be available and the first Nespresso boutique will open in Delhi before finding addresses in other key cities.
The arrival of Nespresso is a fairly big deal. They sell something like 14 billion of its pods each year. All thanks to Eric Favre, the Swiss engineer who invented the system that would change the history of coffee. One of his first projects in the mid 1970s was to develop a machine that would combine the convenience of domestic coffee with the quality of an Italian espresso bar. Result: Clooney inspiring us to drink Nespresso.
Starting the day with a Chiaro pod and then moving to Cosi makes one look forward to something special. Or you can even go the Volluto Decaffeinato way. The point is that a certain kind of business traveller rejoices at the sight of Nespresso pods in a drawer by the minibar. Nespresso is like a top Silicon Valley brand that makes people go “wow” and it has a loyal following.
No wonder we can’t stop watching George Clooney and Jean Dujardin in a Nespresso ad, with Camille Cottin keeping them company.
