We are getting into September, the big month for tech product launches and Microsoft has an invite to a “special event” in New York City on September 21. The company hasn’t offered details.

Chances are we will see plenty of new hardware from Microsoft, in other words, the latest Surface devices. There are rumours about a Surface Go 4, Surface Laptop Studio 2, and Surface Laptop Go 3. Windows Central recently reported that the updated Surface Laptop Studio 2 will come with Intel’s latest processors, besides a powerful GPU. According to The Verge, Microsoft may postpone a Surface Go 4 with an Arm processor in favour of an Intel one instead. The Surface Go 3 may ship with Intel’s 12th Gen processors.

This is Microsoft’s first “special event” since it had a round of layoffs earlier this year, resulting in the killing of Microsoft-branded mice, keyboards, and webcams; the focus now is on the Surface brand.

Lately, Microsoft has been announcing one AI feature after another and has been working with OpenAI to present new technology. The event may include details on the next big Windows 11 update. The company had announced earlier in the year that it is planning to release a September update for Windows 11, which will include native support for RAR and 7-Zip files and early access to Windows Copilot.

September is also the month for Apple’s new iPhones, Google may reveal its new Pixel phones, Amazon is holding an event on September 20 and Meta Connect is on September 27.
