Meta has announced new features for Messenger, its video messaging app, including AI-powered noise suppression.
The company is adding HD video calling, besides features like AI backgrounds that help bring it up to par with other popular smartphone video calling apps. HD video calling is turned on by default on Wi-Fi but can be turned on for calls using your cell data plan in the “Call settings” menu.
In September, Meta announced new ways to personalise Messenger chat themes with AI-generated images from Meta AI. Users will soon be allowed to use AI backgrounds in Messenger video calls. To start creating one’s personalised AI background, tap on the effects icon in the sidebar of your next video call and select “Backgrounds”.
When it comes to Messenger Calling, you can leave audio or video voice messages when your friends can’t pick up. Tap the ‘Record message’ button to leave an audio message for unanswered audio calls or a video message for unanswered video calls.
