When the MacBook Air with Apple’s M1 chip came out, it started a revolution and that continues with the MacBook Air with M2. A student will hardly have any room to complain about the machine. Instead of big bezels, everything is smarter on this device. The screen is bigger and taller, thanks to the inclusion of the notch. And the webcam is 1080p. With the taller screen you will feel like you can fit in so much more even in default display scaling.

For students, it’s the machine to ask for this festive season. Apple has released its first Study with Me video, which features Emmy-nominated Storm Reid (The Last of Us, Euphoria, Missing), a junior at the University of Southern California (USC), earning her degree in dramatic arts with a minor in African American studies.

The video talks about getting work done and the 15-inch MacBook Air with M2 does just that. It’s almost the perfect machine to have, minus gimmicks, like touch-sensitive function keys and no noisy fan.

In the video, Storm uses the Pomodoro Technique on the new 15-inch MacBook Air with M2 chip to study. The Pomodoro Technique is a proven method that’s broken into 25-minute study sessions followed by five minutes of break time. The film adds elements of magical realism to her breaks and features a new Afrobeats single by Mr. Eazi, Fefe Ne Fefe.

The M2 is more powerful than the M1. Lightroom exports and short video editing will make most rival machines (for students) sweat. Not this one. Even without a fan, MacBook Air M2 doesn’t heat up. You can lead the perfect student life, even if it involves making short videos, with LUTs and other pro elements. And the keyboard is great to work on. Filing day-to-day copies happen at the blink of an eye. And yes, there is MagSafe cable. This is a big deal. There are times when college students trip and knock a laptop off the desk because the cable is plugged in. With MagSafe, the cable connects magnetically and if you trip, the cable will automatically come off and save the machine from taking a tumble.

“As a junior at the University of Southern California — go Trojans! — I spend a lot of time studying, and I’ve found it’s so important for me to balance work with music and movement. I swear by the Pomodoro technique, which is 25-minute study sessions followed by five-minute breaks that I find so critical for self-care and mental wellness. It was fun to collaborate with Apple to incorporate whimsy and my favourite music into each break. With midterms coming up, I hope my classmates and other students can watch this and find this method as helpful as I have,” said Reid.

At just 3.3 pounds, the high-resolution Liquid Retina display is stunning with loads of room for work or play, and enough battery life to power through an all-nighter.
