Depending on who you ask, the latest update to the list of Instagram features is a milestone for the social media platform. Now you can add up to 20 photos or videos to a carousel. Yes, that’s right, you can make a “photo dump”, which has so far been reserved for Facebook.

Instagram has brought in this feature to get closer to TikTok’s carousel feature that allows users to include up to 35 photos in a single post.

The Instagram carousel so far allowed up to 10 pieces of content, which is sufficient for most people. But there are moments when users need to put out vacation and office party photos. You know, the kind in which everyone needs to be accommodated.

The carousel feature was first rolled out to users in 2017. At the same time, TikTok began gaining popularity among the youth.

Does the new feature have a drawback? We just don’t know how it’s going to work for the platform. For users of a certain age, the update could be a reminder of the late 2000s era. Facebook allows users to post multiple photos and many have become tired of the “photo dump” on that platform. Can Instagram stay fresh? You can upload all your summer vacation photos without carefully going through the list. And many users wouldn’t like to see that.

Over the last couple of years, Instagram has added several features and has moved away from the simple photo-sharing app it was a decade ago.

Instagram seems to be on a roll with updates and announcements. In July “AI Studio” was rolled out to help larger users on the platform engage with followers. The new feature comes a day after Instagram revealed that it’s making “Views” the primary metric across all its formats, including Reels, live, photos, carousels and Stories. across all of their content.
