Digital marketing experts have alerted on social media that Facebook may in its next business page update remove five of its information sections.
The fields Mission, Company Overview, Biography, Affiliation and Personal Interests will no more be exhibited on Facebook's business pages from August 1.
Do people really need to see your personal interests on your business page? Does your biography really matter - or is that just another variation of your page description? Or is this a step to boost Facebook’s user security.
One theory is that not many users dwell on these particular fields, so it makes sense for Facebook to not exhibit them.
However, Nimesh Shah, the CEO of Windchimes Communication which is a leading national digital agency, believes the change could be a part of a broader effort to restrict details on data.
“The company has been under constant pressure regarding its data protection policy. They could be cutting down on unwarranted information. If I answer five questions by you about a certain thing, instead of answering ten questions on the same matter, I am protecting unnecessary information from being out in the open. It seems like a similar case here. It’s a minor change but not for no reason,” he told this website.
