When one thinks of BMW M, possibly the first image that comes to mind is that of the M5. It may or may not be the bestselling M car till date, although it might just be, but the image of a white M5 in the hands of a certain Late Sabine Schmitz doing power slides along the edges of the Nurburgring Nordschlife cannot be unseen if one has seen them once. The M5 ‘Ringtaxi’ of ‘The Queen of the Ring’ was something to have ridden in at least once in a lifetime. That possibility has ended but it has, possibly more than any of the M5’s other achievements, forever cemented the car in public memory.
With BMW M Gmbh turning 50, BMW India has launched the BMW M5 Competition 50 Jahre M Edition at Rs 1.80 crore (ex showroom) in the Indian market. It is a rather hard-edged specimen with a high-revving V8 engine with 625hp and a 0-100kmph time in 3.3 seconds.
It also comes with the M xDrive with Active M differential that guarantees maximum traction and driving dynamics for everyday driving as well as at the racetrack. This flexibility is what makes the M so appealing. Adding visual flair and stopping power are 20-inch jet-black alloys with red M compound brakes.
The BMW M5 Competition is a saloon offering the utmost in terms of luxury and comfort, while having a 4.4l twin turbo V8 roaring under the hood. The M5 Competition additional performance aids like retuned chassis, new shock absorbers, track modem, bespoke engine mounting and special M Sport exhaust system.
