Facebook Messenger is becoming more efficient among users of the Facebook app and Instagram. Coming your way is cross-app group chats, which the company had announced earlier. Users can finally start group chats among Instagram and Messenger contacts.

“Cross-app communication has made it easier for people to stay connected without thinking about which app they use. In fact, over 70 per cent of eligible people on Instagram have updated to the new Messenger experience to enjoy new features like cross-app communication,” said Sateesh Kumar Srinivasan, director of product management, Messenger.

Facebook says that it will not compromise controls over who can reach you. With delivery controls, you decide who reaches your Chats List, who goes to your Message Request folder, and who can’t message or call you.

Another interesting feature that’s arriving to the messaging apps is that polls will be available in group DMs on Instagram and in cross-app chats, so you can, for example, vote on where to watch a film with colleagues after work.

And finally, personalisation. Facebook presents the Cottagecore chat theme, which is inspired by a romanticised pastoral world, and now you can personalise your chats with this niche theme.
