Taylor Swift, who is about to release her latest album called The Tortured Poets Department on April 19, has something special for Apple Music listeners. She is using Apple Music lyrics to share riddles with her fans. Fans can search for a word in the lyrics throughout one of her five new playlists. The full message will be before them on April 18.

Take the example of the song Glitch. The letters that are highlighted are H, E, Y, E, R, and B, which spell ‘hereby’. Spotting easter eggs through Apple Music is not new. For the launch of her Midnights album, Apple Music worked with Swift to curate three playlists: Quill Pen Songs, Fountain Pen Songs and Glitter Pen Songs or ways how the singer categorises her tracks.

Usually when a new album is announced, the artist’s team connects with Apple Music. In case of a surprise drop, the editorial team gets a heads up and the team comes up with a code name for the project, according to USA Today.

It’s not an easy process. With every release, there are elements like copy, credits, lyrics, marketing campaigns, animations that add motion to an album’s artwork and so on. For Bad Bunny’s album Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Manana, Apple Music had a virtual hangman concept inviting fans to guess track titles.

Fans suspect the title of the new Swift album has several layers. It sounds similar to a certain group chat shared by Joe Alwyn and Paul Mescal, as revealed by the two actors in a December 2022 Variety interview: “The Tortured Man Club.”

The album features two major collaborations: Post Malone, whose name is billed on track one, Fortnight, as well as Florence + The Machine on track eight, Florida!!!.

Last year, Apple Music crowned Swift with the 2023 Artiste of the Year award and asked her friends to record video messages about the singer’s impact.
