Meta has made cross-posting across its platforms easier. The company already allows you to cross-post between Facebook and Instagram, and it’s now extending that functionality to Threads on Android and iOS.

After testing the feature over months, the option is now live across Meta’s social platforms. You can choose to always have things cross-post or opt-in each time.

The new cross-posting capability is part of Meta’s ambition to get the most out of the content people share on its family of apps. Bringing Threads closer to Meta’s larger app ecosystem and its billions of users could also help boost Threads’ app — which recently surpassed 200 million active users — further.

To cross-post, prepare a new post. Select an image and hit Next. Select a filter on the next screen and hit Next again. On the Share page, scroll down and tap Advanced settings. You’ll find an Automatic sharing setting that lets you post your Instagram posts to Facebook and Threads.

Remember, the three platforms have certain restrictions around posting, so not every element will show up when you cross-post. The caption from an Instagram post will show up as text on Threads and any hashtags will become plain text. Further, you can’t cross-post Reels or videos.
