Elon Musk wants X (formerly Twitter) to cover dating. The owner of the platform in an all-hands session with Linda Yaccarino, who joined as CEO in May, had plenty of thoughts about dating.
When Yaccarino asked Musk if dating features are around the corner, he said, according to a recording heard by The Verge: “Yeah. There’s already some stuff happening to some degree. But I think we might be able to improve the dating situation. Part of it is how do you discover interesting people? Discovery is tough.”
Musk, in the past, had made it clear that X needs to compete with sites like YouTube and LinkedIn. If a job listing is made, Musk said emphasis should be placed on what somebody — applying for the job — has posted in the past on the X platform more than anything else. “I think the same is true also on the romantic front. Finding someone on the platform. Obviously, I found someone and friends of mine have found people on the platform. And you can tell if you’re a good match based on what they write,” Musk told his employees.
His eye is also on video livestreaming, especially “for sporting events, for political events, for people who are actually on the spot”.
