Apple is expected to announce the availability of its Spatial computing headset, the Vision Pro, any moment, says a report from Bloomberg. It may even steal some of the thunder from CES where Apple doesn’t participate.
The headset is expected to be available for online pre-order immediately after the launch. There will be enough supply for a US release by February and employees undergoing training on a “new product”, according to reports.
The headset may contain the magic ingredients needed to give Apple enough success for the next few years. This is Apple’s first new product category in nearly a decade but it will take some time before it becomes a significant revenue driver because of the $3,499 price tag.
The Vision Pro, first showcased at WWDC 2023, is powered by the in-house M2 chip, which also powers devices like the MacBook Air and iPad Pro.
Inside Apple’s headset, you can surround yourself with all kinds of apps, project your Mac screen, take FaceTime calls, watch movies and more. It could be like having a movie theatre all to yourself. One of the uses of the new device could be using it on the airplane to block out all the annoyances of flying. It can also be a game-changer when it comes to watching live sporting events. There is also something called capturing spatial photos and video in 3D. It may change photography.
