Apple’s India dreams continue to expand. So it doesn’t come as a surprise that the company has opened a new office in Bangalore, located at Minsk Square, close to Chinnaswamy cricket stadium. That means, when the company CEO Tim Cook visits Bangalore next time, he may get to hear the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma shouting at the top of their voices, giving vent to their enthusiasm.

The new office is an addition to Apple’s corporate office footprint in Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Gurugram. Needless to say, it is an important milestone in Apple’s more than 25-year history in India. Consider the 1996 TV commercial for Apple Macintosh 7100/80, featuring Sameer Soni. You can keep watching the ad on repeat.

The teams in Bangalore work across a wide range of Apple’s business, be it software, hardware, services, IS&T, operations or customer support. At the moment, Apple has nearly 3,000 employees in India and the company’s work with Indian suppliers supports hundreds of thousands of jobs across the country.

The new address in Bangalore is energy efficient. It will run on 100 per cent renewable energy, and hopes to achieve a leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum rating — the highest level of LEED certification. Apple has been carbon neutral for its corporate operations since 2020, and has run all Apple facilities using 100 per cent renewable energy since 2018.

“Apple is thrilled to expand in India with our new office in the heart of Bengaluru. This dynamic city is already home to so many of our talented teams, including software engineering and hardware technologies, operations, customer support, and more,” said an Apple spokesperson.
