Samsung has delivered the ultimate gift to its users plus, a lot for OnePlus to think about. Tailored for our unusual times, the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition, also known as the Galaxy S20 FE, packs in top specs at a lower pricing. The company already makes three different kinds of its flagship Galaxy S20 phones — a regular, a Plus and an Ultra. The phone is basically an S20 minus a few expensive parts.

What is most interesting is that the phone is the direct result of the pandemic. Samsung’s global unveiling of its flagship devices in February this year was among the last major event attended by journalists. It just shows how quickly the company can respond to a crisis.“We’ve seen the need for a really more value-segmented offer that focuses on those core features that we know our users love the most and prioritise the most.” Drew Blackard, vice-president of product management for Samsung Electronics America, said in an interview ahead of the launch.

There’s a 6.5-inch, 2,400x1,080-pixel super AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling and a lightning-fast advanced chipset. Adding to this is a very capable camera set-up. It presents a pro-grade camera along with the 32MP selfie snapper including tetra-binning technology that lets you instantly capture a post-worthy picture. The main rear sensor is 12MP with OIS, plus there’s a 12MP ultra-wide and an 8MP telephoto. Samsung says the telephoto is a 3x optical zoom, and it further says it is keeping the 30x “space zoom” feature which is driven more by software than hardware. Helping image quality after sunset is night mode multi-frame processing with AI frame integration stabilises motion in-shot while you record. The phone (LTE/5G) will be made available in 6GB+128GB, 8GB+128GB and 8GB/256GB options with microSD support.

This is compelling specs for only $699. India pricing and availability was unavailable when the article went to press.

Spotify’s ‘Polls’ feature ups the interactive quotient

To help listeners engage with podcasts, Spotify has introduced a new interactive feature — Polls. The company has began testing Polls and will allow listeners to engage with podcasts by answering questions posed by the podcast hosts during the show. Both the host and listeners will be able to see the responses in real time, opening up an entirely new way for creators and listeners to interact.

Using Polls, listeners will be able to share feedback and opinions as requested by the show’s hosts, who can use that information to better connect with their fans in future episodes — whether it’s discovering what topics listeners want more of, or learning about the type of guests they love to hear from. The toll will appear at the bottom of the episode page for any podcasts where the feature is activated, or on the episode’s Now Playing page.
