To expand your professional network, LinkedIn is the place to go but what if you are looking for a more inclusive option, one dedicated to members of the LGBTQ+ community? Famm Connect is here to help.

Available on iOS and Android (in the US, the UK and Canada for the time being), there are all the usual features like a feed for sharing and discovering posts, direct messaging and a section to manage connections. But the focus is on creating a space for LGBTQ+ professionals.

The LinkedIn-like platform comes from Famm, a discovery platform for queer-owned brands, created by Cat Perez and Marianna Di Regolo. The idea is to tackle discrimination and biases in professional environments. For many LGBTQ+ individuals, it could be difficult to find support on mainstream networks and they may not be comfortable disclosing their sexual orientation or gender identity on other platforms, fearing that it may harm their career prospects.

“The only time we’d see LGBTQ+ businesses and stories highlighted was during Pride month, and it just felt like we deserved more than that once-a-year spotlight,” Perez told Popsugar. “We wanted something that could make it easier to find and support these brands all year, and we knew we weren’t the only ones feeling this way. As we’ve gotten older, it’s become more important to us to spend our money with intention, especially in today’s political climate where it feels like we constantly have to fight to be seen.”
