I mean what I say. My speciality is I also mean what I do not say. You know that, don’t you, you get the hint, the big bricks of silence that I go dropping on this issue and that are for you to pick up. Well done, you guys are good on the pickup.
Matlab, when I taped myself up in that monogrammed pinstripe and started to get slammed for rank poor taste among many other things, you were the ones who stood up for me and, but why on earth, is wearing fine and wearing expensive the right of a select few, why not me, hain, why not me?
Poor taste-waste is okay, your good taste may be poor taste for me, taste is such a thing. So there! You gave me the licence, in fact you celebrated my audacious style-book and said, carry on, BossOfAllThings, carry on, fikar not about the kharche-sharchey. That worry I leave to you, and I ask you, in rashtra hit, to mind your pennies and keep your purse tight. Someone has to do it. And I command you to the task. You give me your moneys, I will give you ways to spend it. Keep watching this space, as you obediently have been.
Often you’ll see me in this dress, then that. I need to frequently change, don’t ask me why. There are reasons, but they cannot be revealed in the interest of national security. With those dresses come things that make those dresses what they are, scarves, shawls, watches, shades. Can’t be going out like a peacock plucked of its feathers. Log kya kahenge? Sometimes you’ll see real peacocks around me, pecking about on manicured grass, I watch them and I learn how to turn out. National leader inspired by the National bird. Ever heard a peacock’s call? Try some day, then listen in to me.
Other times you’ll see shoes, open shoes, closed shoes, slip-in shoes, shoes with laces and laces that are there just for show. Like me. But those shoes, understand. Count the miles I must walk for you, 24/7, 365 and 1/4 days a year.
Yet other times you’ll see long limos, one after another and another after theone after, like teetar ke do aagey teetar, teetar ke do peechhe teetar sort of thing. And you keep wondering which one has me. Keep wondering, that’s the idea. That’s in the national interest. Wonder, there’s no tax on it yet.
So this thing is plain
That I’ll ride the big plane
With prices it’s yours to duel
And (wink-wink) you also pay for my fuel.
