The Shape of Things Gone by

Well, if you so do not want to listen to us, you will realise, go at your own peril

I have sent word out that I be told what shape I have entered.

I have sent word out that I be told what shape I have entered. Anon

I am here, inside this shape. I cannot tell you how it feels because I cannot see the shape from the inside of it.

When I was on my way to getting inside the shape I heard a few alarmed voices warning me that the shape I was headed to was not a safe shape to head into. And I recall asking why and the voices said, well, if you so do not want to listen to us, you will realise, go at your own peril.

So there. I am not sure I have put myself into some sort of peril, but I do know I have put myself into some sort of shape whose shape I cannot tell. I do hope you get me, and do not take me for some harried high decibel lunatic not in control of anything, least of all his senses. I am in my senses, it is just that I cannot yet tell what shape I am in. But eventually, I fervently hope to find out and pronounce to you the shape of the thing I am in.

Truth to tell, this does feel a little odd. You know, not being able to tell the shape of this thing I am in. I’ve never been inside an igloo but I am certain the Inuits are able to tell when inside their igloos that the shape they are under is spherical or, sometimes parabolic, let’s say. Or I am able to tell that the shape I am most often in is flat — flat on top, flat on the sides, flat underfoot. And so the shape would be cubic, or some such thing, like a three-dimensional rhomboid. Of which the fourth dimension is time, the fifth me, and the sixth the end of its time. No? Never mind.

I have sent word out that I be told what shape I have entered. I mean if I can be warned about entering this shape, surely I can also be told what this shape is, what it looks like. Stands to reason, although it is also true that few things are allowed these days to stand to reason. If they do, they are put down. You know what I mean.

But I am waiting to hear. I am eager and anxious. I have entered this shape, after all. I shall be patient. And I shall be prepared for surprises. The shape I have entered is a changeable shape, it changes to the whimsies of our Masters. But that is not all. It also changes to the whimsies of the enemies of our Masters, and those enemies are so formidable and they so frighten our Masters that our Masters shudder even to take their name. So all in all, it is a changing shape and it is not easy being in it because being inside a shape that is changing can be an uncertain and turbulent thing. But whatever. You know. What’s in a shape?

I am this and often that

But I will tell you what

Should you think I’ve a shape not

Then y’know I am a kind of plot.
