The health and family welfare department announced the launch of Vision 2025 at the Make in Odisha Conclave here on Tuesday.

The programme aims to achieve health care for the people of Odisha with the primary objective to improve the state’s medical infrastructure.

Health and family welfare minister Pratap Jena launched the vision document and said that the state government was committed to the growth of health care infrastructure and assured investors unmatched support in realising the goals.

The vision includes setting up of digital dispensaries, provision of state-of-the-art diagnostic and dialysis facilities, affordable health-care projects at 25 locations across the state, cardiac care hospital in Jharsuguda and a host of cancer care projects.

Investors and experts in the healthcare sector have promised an overall investment of Rs 2,750 crore for the projects and initiatives included in Vision 2025 document. A discussion was also held to set up manufacturing units for pharmaceuticals, and medical equipment.

Panelists, who have took part in the session, included chairman of BR Life, B.R. Shetty, chairman of Medica Group of Hospitals Alok Ray, chief operating officer of Tata Trust Harish Krishnaswamy, director of Ziqitza Healthcare Ltd Naresh Jain and CEO of Global Healthcare Ltd Azim Sabhat.

“The affordable health-care project model has won the appreciation of investors. It will include development of hospitals where urban poor will be able to avail of quality health care facilities,” said department secretary Pramod Meherda. He also gave a brief presentation on the flagship scheme Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojna to the delegates at the sectoral session.

National Health Mission director Shalini Pandit spoke about the key features of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojna. She said the state government wanted to provide cashless treatment to insured patients and it would go a long way in achieving the milestones of Vision 2025.
