Bhubaneswar: The state government on Tuesday inked four deals with institutions of national repute for delivery of quality healthcare services for the people of the state.

The MoUs were signed in the presence of chief minister Naveen Patnaik at the state secretariat. The agencies with which the state health and family welfare department signed the MoUs are Christian Medical College and Hospital, Vellore, Narayan Hrudayalaya, L.V. Prasad Eye Institute, Bhubaneswar, and Global Healthcare Systems Private Limited, Calcutta.

For treatment of thalassaemia and sickle cell anaemia, the state signed MoU with the Centre for Stem Cell Research at Christian Medical College and Hospital, Vellore. The government inked a deal with Narayana Hrudayalaya to provide faster and better access to children with heart diseases. "The MoU with L.V. Prasad Eye Institute, Bhubaneswar, will be helpful in providing specialised care to the needy children for treatment of congenital cataract and retinopathy of prematurity," said health and family welfare minister Pratap Jena.

The health department joined hands with the Global Health Care Systems Private Limited for implementation of digital dispensary project at 14 locations of Nabarangpur district in the first phase. These digital dispensary centres will function as an OPD with virtual consultation with doctors through video-conferencing. The centres will also have facility for basic laboratory test and medication dispensing to deliver quality primary healthcare free of cost to the patients.
