The development authority here has decided to develop infrastructure at four major parks — Buddha Jayanti Park at Niladri Vihar, Indira Gandhi Park on Sachivalaya Marg at Unit II, Gandhi Park at Gajapati Nagar and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Park at Satsang Vihar.
The Bhubaneswar Development Authority has already revamped several parks to attract more visitors.
According to the plan, a seating gallery will be developed at the Buddha Jayanti Park, the Gandhi Park in Gajapati Nagar will get a foam fantasy fountain and the jet fountain and the existing water fountain at Indira Gandhi Park will be renovated.

In Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Park, authorities have planned to revamp the overall infrastructure and repair the benches, create lawns and landscaping and renovate the existing fountain.
“This is for the first time that such a major renovation work will be taken up at the park,” a source said.
“Due to several facilities such as open air gyms, skating rinks and acupressure pathways, people are getting attracted to the parks. We have also revised the visiting hours of the parks keeping the need and requirement of the people. We need to continue the work,” said BDA chief horticulturist A.N. Dhar.
Besides, specific developmental work at these four parks, the authorities are taking up several other development works at all parks, which includes installation stainless steel sitting benches, twin hanging stainless steel
dustbins, automatic and
semi-automatic eco-friendly toilets with bio-digester and signage.
“We have a specific wing that looks after the need of the park according to the requirement of the people. We have floated three tenders to select executors, who would take up the infrastructure work at these four parks. The tender will be finalised in a month,” said an official of the development authority.
