Since the nationwide lockdown came into force, not a single robbery, burglary or murder case has been lodged in any police station in Guwahati.

A police source said on an average each police station witnesses around 15 to 20 such complaints a day with Dispur police station recording highest number of cases.

Of the complaints around 10 cases are registered. Sometimes the numbers go even higher. However, in the past two days till Friday 3pm, not a single crime related to robbery, burglary or murder have been lodged in any of the police stations.

There are only two cases related to domestic violence reported at Dispur police station but no other cases have been reported.

The source said cases related to theft or burglary are mostly reported in Dispur, Hatigaon, Chandmari and Basistha police stations but these police stations have reported zero cases in the past few hours. However, the police are taking strict measures to keep everything under control.

The source added that Dispur alone had registered 686 cases in 2019 while Hatigaon police station registered 201 cases, 459 cases by Basistha police station and 160 cases by Bhangagarh police station.

One the other hand, 444 theft cases were reported in Chandmari police station.
