Former Rajya Sabha MP Urkhao Gwra Brahma-led United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) held the party’s annual convention at Rowta in Udalguri district on Wednesday.

The meet is significant as it comes ahead of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) polls scheduled in the first week of April in the four districts — Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa and Udalguri.

Party president Brahma made an appeal to BTC chief Hagrama Mohillary to lend an opportunity in the council polls to the signatories of the Bodo pact.

The meet was also addressed by NDFB (P) chairman, Gobindo Basumatary, one of the signatories of the pact, who said once the clauses of the pact are implemented in a time bound manner, the region would witness radical growth and development.
