The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee on Saturday organised a 6km protest rally here against the misrule of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking to reporters here, PCC acting president Pijush Kanti Biswas said, “Today is the 135th foundation day of the Indian Nation Congress, which is being celebrated across the nation. On this day, we pledge to start the movement against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has started a process of dividing the country in the name of religion and caste. We feel that if the BJP government continues for some more years then the people of the country will be in danger.”

Biswas alleged that never before had the GDP collapsed but after the BJP government came to power at the Centre the economy has totally collapsed as the GDP which is currently at 4.5 is expected to fall to 2 per cent. “The BJP is trying to divide the people in the name of NRC (National Register of Citizens), CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) and NPR (National Population Register). They violate the Constitution. Democracy and the Constitution are in danger. We condemn CAA and NRC. The way NPR is being used, it will escalate riots across India,” he added.

He claimed that because of the failure of the Modi government, agriculture, motor sector and industries were being shut down and that the government was trying to hand them over to big private firms.

“The people of the nation don’t want this government anymore. From today, we have started the movement against this government. We will never allow the NRC, CAA and NRP to get implemented in India,” he added.
