The Tripura government has sent a proposal to the DoNER ministry to construct a new road from Agartala to Simna village of West district to Shillong in Meghalaya via Bangladesh, chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb said in reply to a query by Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) legislator Bishaketu Debbarma, during the question hour of the budget session of the Assembly on Tuesday.

2 killed in mishap
Two persons died in two different road accidents on NH 17 in Kamrup district on Tuesday. A van lost control and collided with a road side tree. The driver of the vehicle died on the spot. Another accident took place at Kenduguri village, when a bike collided with a passenger bus. The biker died on the spot and his pillion was injured.
Body found
A 38-year-old woman was allegedly gang raped and killed by four youths at Jainpur area in Chirang district on Monday. According to reports, the woman was abducted from her residence and raped and murdered near a sluice gate. The body was recovered on Tuesday.

Mizoram power and electricity minister R. Lalzirliana on Tuesday said the state government is making an effort to ensure that the state faced no interrupted power supply during the fight against coronavirus.
