The disgruntled National People’s Party (NPP) legislators from Manipur appear to have buried the hatchet with the BJP following a meeting with Union home minister Amit Shah on Wednesday.

This could be gauged from a tweet by Assam health minister and North-East Democratic Alliance convener Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday evening.

Sarma stated: “A NPP delegation led by @SangmaConrad and Dy Chief Minister of Manipur Sri Y Joy Kumar Singh met Hon’ble Home minister Sri @AmitShah ji today in New Delhi. Both @BJP4India and NPP will continue to work together for the development of Manipur.”

In another tweet, Sarma said the NPP would continue to support the BJP government in Manipur.

“A NPP delegation led by @SangmaConrad and Dy Chief Minister of Manipur Sri Y Joy Kumar Singh met Hon'ble President of @BJP4India Sri @JPNadda ji today in New Delhi. NPP will continue to support the BJP govt in Manipur for the development of Manipur,” the Assam minister stated on his Twitter handle.

However, Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K. Sangma was yet to tweet or disclose any information regarding the meeting with Shah till the filing of this report.

For the past few days, hectic parleys took place between the two parties after the four NPP legislators withdrew support from the N. Biren Singh-led government in Manipur.

Conrad, who is also the national president of the NPP, flew to Imphal along with Sarma on Sunday to iron out the differences between the two sides.

But on Tuesday, Conrad, Sarma and the four NPP legislators flew to Delhi to hold talks with the BJP leadership.

The NPP national president had earlier blamed Biren Singh for the political turmoil in Manipur, which led to the four legislators withdrawing their support.

Conrad had said that Singh not only took away the portfolios of the NPP ministers, but also interfered with their functioning.

The withdrawal of support by the four NPP legislators followed after three legislators from the BJP resigned.

A Trinamul Congress legislator and an Independent also withdrew their support from the Biren Singh-led government.

In spite of these setbacks, the BJP managed to win the Rajya Sabha polls held in Manipur a few days ago.
