A reshuffle of top police officers in Assam took place on Monday.
The deputy inspector-general of police (border-II), Violet Borah, has been transferred and posted as the DIG (BTAD).
The DIG (training) Rana Bhuyan has been transferred and he will take charge as the DIG (border-II).
The DIG (northern range) Lachit Baruah has been transferred as the DIG (CID) while the current DIG (CID), Mridulanda Baruah, will take charge as the DIG, northern range, headquartered at Tezpur.
The DIG of northeastern region in Tinsukia, P.K. Bhuyan, has been transferred and he will take charge as the DIG (training) in Dergaon.
The commandant of the commando battalion in Mandakata, Ramandeep Kaur, has been transferred and posted as superintendent of police (SP), West Karbi Anglong, while the current SP in West Karbi Anglong has been transferred and posted as Jorhat’s SP.
Current Jorhat SP Jitmol Doley has been promoted and will take charge as the DIG, northeastern region, in Tinsukia.
The assistant inspector-general of police (administration), Rafiul Alam Laskar, has been promoted. He has been transferred and posted as the DIG, Bureau of Investigation (economic offences).
Since December, this is the fifth reshuffle in the police department.
Earlier, Karbi Anglong SP Gaurav Upadhyay was one of the first officers to be transferred in this reshuffle. He has been transferred and attached to Assam police headquarters until further orders while Debojit Deuri, SP Sadiya, has been transferred and will take charge as new Karbi Anglong SP in his place.
Currently, the police are taking various measures in the state to keep law and order in control. The are also keeping track of issues highlighted on social media.
