Mizoram governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai said on Saturday that the state was making massive progress in the field of sports.
During a high tea with members of I-League team Aizawl FC at his residence at Kozhikode in Kerala, Pillai hailed Mizoram as one of the most peaceful states in the country.
He said Mizoram had successfully conducted its state games last month where thousands of sportspersons and athletes showcased their talents.
“Mizoram is making massive progress in sports under the leadership of sports minister and owner of Aizawl FC, Robert Romawia Royte,” Pillai said.
He wished Aizawl FC success for the I-League match.
Aizawl FC head coach Rozario Stanley thanked the governor for his hospitality. He said the team would try its best to return home with flying colours.
“We are very much indebted to the governor for his hospitality and encouragement. We will try our best to win laurels for the people of Mizoram according to the governor’s aspirations,” he said.
Aizawl FC team left for Kerala on Wednesday to play the match with Gokulam on Saturday night.
Gokulam held Aizawl FC to a 1-1 draw in the match.
