Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio on Wednesday said the state has been recognised as a top state in the national e-governance service delivery assessment (NeSDA) at a national e-governance conference in Mumbai recently.
According to the NeSDA report, Nagaland topped the list among the northeastern and hill states of India, while Assam came second with 0.28 while Manipur stood third, he said.
Rio was speaking at the launch of interactive digital smart board for smart classroom, organised by the state higher education department, in Kohima Science College (Autonomous) Jotsoma.
He said the initiative of higher education department to introduce digital smart boards and smart classrooms is a step in the right direction that will make learning more interactive and engaging.
“The use of simple tools can be used by the teachers and the students to make learning joyful and interesting and the teachers will be able to deliver technology enabled dynamic and interactive lessons in classroom,” he said.
Pointing out that there are several benefits of using interactive boards in the classrooms, he said they will have a positive impact on both the students and the teachers.
The interactive boards make review or revision of lessons more convenient and they will be easier for the teachers to structure lessons. These boards will also allow differently-abled students to learn better, provide convenience and flexibility in learning.
Use of smart boards and smart classrooms result in savings on teaching costs and helps in cutting down the expenditure on teaching materials and aids. They also have the potential of enabling live, distance communication learning.
Rio appreciated the efforts of higher and technical education minister Temjen Imna Along and all those associated with the project for making the dream of technology-enabled education a reality in the classrooms.
He hoped that the teachers and the students will make maximum use of this facility and make learning more modern.
Rio also said along with the introduction of technology in governance, a geo-tagging has been enabled in schools and a data with regard to deployment of teachers in various schools has been made public on a geo-spatial platform to ensure that the teachers actually teach in the schools.
