More trains cancelled in Northeast

Altogether 25 long-distance will run from Friday

The Dibrugarh–Lalgarh Avadh Assam Express, Dibrugarh–Rangiya Express, Rangiya–New Tinsukia Express, Simaluguri–Dibrugarh passenger will remain cancelled on Friday and Saturday owing to the prevailing law-and-order situation in Tinsukia and Dibrugarh.

At least 42 long-distance trains were cancelled or diverted on Thursday owing to damage to railway properties during protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019.

Northeast Frontier Railway said apart from these, the Dibrugarh–Jhajha Express was diverted via Moranhat and Simaluguri. However, with the improvement in law and order and introduction of manual train operations in the affected areas in Bengal, NFR has restored a few long-distance trains in addition to goods trains, it added.

The Dibrugarh–Lalgarh Avadh Assam Express, Dibrugarh–Rangiya Express, Rangiya–New Tinsukia Express, Simaluguri–Dibrugarh passenger will remain cancelled on Friday and Saturday owing to the prevailing law-and-order situation in Tinsukia and Dibrugarh.

At least 13 trains will remain cancelled on Friday owing to capacity constraint in Kumedpur-Malda town section as a result of damage to tracks and signalling systems.

Altogether 25 long-distance will run from Friday.

Two flights were cancelled on Thursday, along with the trains.
