Mizoram bags 9 awards

Mizoram has got nine awards under the Union ministry of rural development.

An official said on Friday taht state rural development commissioner and secretary Lalhmingthanga received the awards at the annual award ceremony on Thursday.

Mizoram bagged the first prizes for implementing software for estimate calculation using rural rates for employment under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and for work completion under MGNREGA in the hilly states category.

In the district category, Champhai stood first in work completion among hilly states, while Khawpuar village in Aizawl was adjudged third best performing gram panchayat/sarpanch in implementing MGNREGA work in the village category.

The official said the Mizoram State Rural Livelihoods Mission has been selected for National Award for outstanding performance under financial inclusion.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) scheme, Robert Lalramchuana, president of Khamrang village council under Thingdawl block in Kolasib district, and Zirsangliani from Serchhip block in Serchhip district were rewarded for their work. Mizoram bagged the second position in overall performance among small states or Union Territories under the Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission. It stood third in terms of district infrastructure scheme advisory committees that monitor development plans.
