Manipur signs MoU with Narayana

A landmark moment in the history of Manipur’s healthcare sector, says health minister

The Manipur government on Tuesday inked a memorandum of understanding with Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Guwahati, for empanelment of the Chief Ministergi Hakselgi Tengbang (CHMT) scheme at the hospital.

The MoU was signed between officials of the department of health and family welfare, Manipur, and Narayana Superspeciality Hospital in the presence of health minister L. Jayantakumar Singh.

Jayantakumar later said it is a landmark moment in the history of Manipur’s healthcare sector and the state government is working towards more expansion in the near future for patients from the state in other hospitals in the country. The state health department is also ready to sign another 10 MoUs with hospitals.

The minister said 84,209 families had been enrolled from the state to get the benefit of health insurance covering upto Rs 2 lakh for a family in a year. Around 5 lakh people have been registered with CMHT in the state. So far, the state government has expended Rs 27.57 crore to aid 20,298 CMHT card holders’ free treatment.

The newly-empanelled Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Guwahati, will provide free treatment for CMHT card holders of the state in cardiology, general surgery, cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, nephrology, urology, orthopaedics, gastrology and kidney-related ailments.
