More and more educational institutions in the state have started online classes to help students cope with their syllabus in view of the 21-day lockdown.
The latest to join the bandwagon are the city-based Sanskriti-The Gurukul (a private school) and the Royal Global University (RGU).
These two city-based institutes have started online classes for their students so that they can cope up with their syllabus during this period.
In a statement, Sanskriti-The Gurukul said, “Classrooms can halt, Education can’t. With this very thought in mind, for the first time in the Northeast, Sanskriti-The Gurukul has started online classes for the new session 2020-21.”
Earlier, Tezpur University and several departments of Silchar University, Gauhati University and Dibrugarh University had started online classes.
The Gurukul authorities said while the rest of the city feels trapped in a nationwide lockdown because of the outbreak of coronavirus, the administration and educators at their school have come together with “innovative ideas” to carry forward the school session.
“By making the best use of suitable online platforms like Google Classroom, Google Meet and Zoom, the school has managed to create full-fledged classrooms online,” the statement added.
The students can maintain 24-hour contact with their educators through Google Classroom. For live classes, platforms like Zoom and Google Meet are being used.
Indrakshi Borpuzari, senior manager, PR, Royal Global University, said in the present scenario of Covid-19 pandemic, the world of education has been hit hard with students having to stay indoors, away from their classrooms.
“In such a grave situation, RGU has taken prompt steps since March 16 to resort to digital platforms,” Borpuzari said.
She added that ROYALNet, the digital platform of the university which provides several facilities to the students, has become very helpful as the students are receiving relevant study material, assignments, videos, video links at home.
The university’s faculty are also in constant touch with their students through YouTube video lectures and assignments.
