Holding placards like 'No to CAA/NRC/NPR' and 'Save India', many senior Congress leaders joined the protest

Congress MPs from Assam on Friday joined party leaders to protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019. They were led by AICC president Sonia Gandhi.

Assam PCC president Ripun Bora and MPs Gaurav Gogoi and Rani Narah took part in a protest organised near the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Parliament.

The MPs also protested against the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR). Holding placards like “No to CAA/NRC/NPR” and “Save India”, many senior Congress leaders joined the protest.

National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) national president Neeraj Kundan will be here on Saturday to protest against CAA. The protest will be organised by the NSUI’s Assam state committee.

“After the protest, a delegation will meet Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi and submit a memorandum to him stating our opposition to CAA,” said an NSUI member.

The AASU will organise a human chain at Phillobari Tiniali in Tinsukia to protest against CAA on Saturday.
