The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati, has inked four memoranda of understanding (MoUs) — three with Gifu University in Japan and one with Dalhousie University in Canada — to enhance academic and research excellence.
The MoUs, formalised for a five-year period and extendable, were announced by IIT Guwahati on Tuesday. Rajeev Ahuja, officiating director of IIT Guwahati, highlighted the institution’s commitment to supporting students’ academic and personal growth through cross-cultural opportunities.
The MoU with Dalhousie University, Canada, initiates joint doctoral programmes fostering dynamic research collaborations and facilitating exchange programmes for students and academic staff.
Likewise, one of the MoUs with Gifu University involves an International Joint PhD Programme spanning three years, with collective guidance and mentorship for scholars from both institutions.
Another MoU entails a two-year International Masters Joint Degree Programme in Food Science and Technology, aimed at cultivating highly skilled professionals in related fields. Moreover, IIT Guwahati collaborates with Gifu University on the Glocal Expert Programme, enabling students to obtain certification from both universities, fostering cross-cultural learning and global competencies.
These partnerships were formalised during the Japan-NER Bioeconomic Technology Cooperation Symposium 2024.
