BJP MLA from Duliajan constituency Terash Gowalla withdrew his resignation here on Thursday, within 48 hours of chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal’s assurance to take decisions on constituency-related matters only after discussions with him in future.

Sonowal on Tuesday had appointed 42 personnel in various state government-run PSUs, companies and corporations, including the post of Assam Gas Company Limited (AGCL)’s chairperson, from outside the district.

Gowalla said he was called by Sonowal on Wednesday at his Dibrugarh residence to discuss the matter.

“I withdrew my resignation after discussion with party workers and assurance from Sonowal,” he said.

Gowalla said he withdrew his resignation out of respect for his party and Sonowal.

Sadia constituency MLA Bolin Chetia was approved for the post.
