Arunachal Pradesh governor Lt General K.T. Parnaik (retired) on Saturday called for “strengthening” the security apparatus in the three districts of Tirap, Changlang and Longding, a day after massive rallies were taken out in four district headquarters seeking justice for former MLA Yumsem Matey who was assassinated on December 16 in Tirap district.

Parnaik discussed ways to strengthen the security in TCL districts with the sector commander of Assam Rifles, who called on him at Raj Bhavan in Itanagar, urging him to “spruce up the system in militant-affected areas in coordination with paramilitary forces and Arunachal Pradesh Police”.
