The Cachar administration has announced her the ambassador of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme of the government.

Cachar deputy commissioner Laya Madduri told The Telegraph that the people would be inspired by her.

She said Kavita’s association with the scheme will definitely encourage the people to save the girl child.

Madduri said Kavita was the role model for many girls and was the perfect person to spread the message of girl child empowerment.

Silchar MLA Dilip Paul gifted her Rs 25,000 from his salary.

When Sonowal spoke to Kavita and enquired about her, the fencer asked him for a government job. He then asked her to meet him on Thursday.

Kavita, a Meitei Manipuri, won a gold medal for India in the SAF Games held in Nepal recently.

She won the medal in the fencing epee individual category. Epee is the heaviest sword used in fencing and the other two disciplines in the combat sport are foil and sabre. In this sport, the fencer scores a point each time he or she manages to bring to touch the opponent with the sword in hand.

Moreover, India topped the medals tally.

She also participated in last Asian Games and Peace Cup in Israel. Now, she is looking forward to the Tokyo Olympics.

Kavita said she has already started preparations for the Olympics and said she was facing extreme difficulties because of financial constraints. She said many organisations and persons have extended their support towards her financially.

She added that one should have enough courage to go ahead in every field to get better results.
