The BSF arrested one person and seized drugs and mobile phones valued at Rs 21,66,101 in a series of raids in Tripura’s South District in the wee hours on Thursday.
A BSF release said based on specific input, BSF troops of Chanderpur border outpost laid an ambush. They observed one person approaching the India-Bangladesh border fence, challenged him and apprehended him when he tried to flee.
They recovered 770 Yaba tablets, 5.7kg ganja and 95 bottles of Phensedyl, valued at 6,09,719, from him besides Rs 3,85,000 in cash. He identified himself as Prasenjit Das, 29, of Sadhu Para in the district. He was handed over to the police.
In another operation, the BSF seized 108 Redmi mobile phones, valued at Rs 11,71,382, and handed it over to the customs at Sonamura.
