Agartala: Weeks after Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb announced that Tripura had become corona-free after two Covid-19 patients recovered, fresh two more persons from the Border Security Force (BSF) of Tripura frontier tested positive at Ambassa in Dhalai district on Saturday.

Deb, who is holds the health portfolio, wrote on his Facebook page, “Alert! In Tripura two persons from Ambassa #BSF unit found #COVID19 positive. Total #COVID19 positive cases in Tripura stands at 4. (Two already discharged, so active cases: 2).”

A BSF public relations officer said on March 25 that a head constable of BSF posted at Ambassa of Dhalai district was hospitalised with a stomach ache. He was later referred to subdivisional, district hospitals and finally to GB Pant Hospital here. A BSF constable was posted with the patient as an attendant.

Both of them tested positive with coronavirus on Saturday during a check-up at GB Pant hospital, the BSF official said.

On April 23, the chief minister said Tripura has become corona-free after the second coronavirus patient from Tripura tested negative.

The first Covid-19 patient, a woman of Gomati district, tested positive on April 6 and on April 16 the second patient, a Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawan, tested positive at Damcherra in North. Both the patients were released.

Currently, two of the eight districts of Tripura are in an orange category, which includes Gomati and North, while the others are declared green zones.
