A statement issued by the company said the service can be extended to all medical vehicles and those used by the state machinery.

Automovill is anticipating more orders from the government and other agencies concerned.

Automovill, a start up set up by Chinmay Baruah and Mridu Mahendra Das, was incubated at the state government’s marquee Assam Startup — The Nest in the first Cohort batch.

The company, with operations in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Guwahati, is also sanitising patrol vehicles in Bangalore, according to a tweet on Sunday.

Automovill won the prestigious NRL Ideation, 2017 award among 350 companies nationwide and was awarded a grant of Rs 47.6 lakh. The company was recognised by the government of India in collaboration with Nedfi as budding entrepreneurs from the Northeast and felicitated by Prime Minister Modi at a start-up meet in Aizawl.

In a significant development announced on Sunday, Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL) engineers and technical staff have developed a prototype for auto sanitiser tunnel with the objective of ensuring proper sanitising of its employees and contract workmen working in the refinery to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.

The innovative design, conceived by DGM (instrumentation) Nihar Prasad Sharma, was implemented in-house by the instrumentation department at its workshop with assistance of other maintenance groups utilising mostly refurbished components sourced within the refinery. The unit works on opto-electronic principle to automatically discharge a controlled mist of sanitising liquid as a person walks-in through the tunnel.

NRL proposes to use the auto sanitiser tunnel for its plants within the refinery and other locations of the company.
